Clinical Trial Management Systems – CTMS  maintains and manages the data involved with planning, preparation, performance, and reporting of clinical trials.

with emphasis on keeping up-to-date contact information for participants and tracking deadlines and milestones such as those for regulatory approval or the issue of progress reports. Often, a clinical trial management system provides data to a business intelligence system, which acts as a digital dashboard for trial managers.

Electronic Data Capture – EDC and Clinical Data Management Systems – CDMS – are used in a majority of clinical trials to collect case report data from sites (investigators), manage its quality and prepare it for analysis.

Interactive Voice Response Systems – IVRS are used by sites to register the enrollment to a particular treatment arm of patients using a phone  – today mostly replaced by web-based tools(IWRS)

Interactive Web Response Systems – IWRS , sometimes part of the EDC system  used by sites to register the enrollment to a particular treatment arm of patients using a electronic forms
